Greene County plays host to North Polk (Alleman) in football on Friday at Linduska Field in Jefferson. It’s a non-district game and this will be the third time the teams have played in the last 12 months. The Comets downed the Rams twice in 2012, once in the regular season and once in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs.
The Comets won in Alleman last week 35-33 over Bondurant-Farrar to open their season. NP led 35-26 before B-F scored seven points with seven minutes to play to close the gap to two points, but there was no further scoring.
The Rams lost at Perry 45-14 in week one. Head Coach Dean Lansman, also the defensive coordinator, is expected to return to the 4-3 defense he’s directed for years after opening in a 3-5 alignment last week. Some personnel switches are expected on both offense and defense, and there may even be some special teams changes.
The NP and Greene County freshmen teams start the action with a 4:45 p.m. contest. The varsity game is set for 7:30 p.m. and coverage on KG98 begins at 6:30 p.m.
