The Stuart Fire Department held its annual “Fill the Boot” campaign this past Saturday to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Through collections in the McDonald’s and Burger King driveways and at the intersection of White Pole Road and Division Street, the department was able to collect more than $1,500 dollars according to Fire Chief Gary Fox.
Fox has been in Stuart for five years now, and he says the campaign has consistently raised funds in that dollar amount each year.
Funds are used to send children suffering from muscular dystrophy to Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello.
Speaking of the Stuart Fire Department, local residents are encouraged to attend the special tribute and salute to the Stuart Fire and Rescue Departments at 4:30 in the Stuart Elementary gym this Saturday prior to Scoop the Loop.
We’ll talk to Scoop the Loop organizer Bob Cook about the tribute tomorrow on Let’s Talk Guthrie County, during the 9am, noon and 5 o’clock hours on 107.9 FM, KKRF.
