With a break in the heat just in time for Labor Day today, many people are urged to take advantage and be outdoors.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department wants to remind you to go to your favorite park in town and be active outside with friends and family.
Director Vicky Lautner says all six parks are in great shape. Kelso Park recently received an upgrade with new LED lights that come on at dusk and turn on at dawn automatically. She suggests Daubendiek Park for those who like to fish or just walking the trails.
And speaking of trails, Lautner points out that the Raccoon River Valley Trail is a great place for bicycle enthusiasts and people who just enjoy nature overall. She says there’s a lot of fun activities to do outdoors and with summer winding down, today is a great day to take advantage of the cooler weather.
