The Affordable Care Act is in the news almost everyday as it has grown into a divisive piece of legislation for people on the right and left sides of the party line.
But is everybody fully informed about the law’s content? Farm Bureau Financial Services in Guthrie Center feels citizens should know more about the basics.
Farm Bureau Agent Juliana Dukes invites the public to attend a health care reform seminar tonight at 7 o’clock in Guthrie Center’s Farm Bureau Hall. The seminar is geared to answer any questions or concerns people might have about the controversial law.
“It’s one of the largest pieces of legislation ever passed, and it represents a significant change in the way we do health insurance. A lot of people are going to have questions and we just want to give them the basics about ‘how does it affect them, what are the benefits, what choices do I need to make and when do I need to take action?’.”
Dukes will speak for around 40 minutes about the law’s strengths and weaknesses, and says the more information people have, the better.
“I think if people are informed there will be a lot less fear and a lot less speculation. If they just know the basics of the law, they’re gonna know what they need to do, when.”
The Affordable Care Act officially goes into place January 1 of 2014, but those without creditable health insurance can begin purchasing their new coverage plans starting in October.
