Greene County High School and Middle School Athletic Director Dave Waskow recently turned in his resignation at the previous Jefferson-Scranton School Board meeting.

After nine years with the Jefferson-Scranton School District, Waskow says he’s decision to resign was family motivated.

“Our family’s all in Northeast Iowa and my wife and I sat down here in May and I’m at that point where I could retire early if I wanted to.  We both decided that’s where we want to be.  We’ve got four grandkids up there and another one on the way in September and both our children live there and my folks are still living there and it’s that family strings pull at you.”

Waskow comments that he’s enjoyed his time in Jefferson and all the relationships he built over the years.

Jefferson-Scranton and East Greene Superintendent Tim Christensen says the current plan is to have Waskow help establish 2014-15 sports schedules for the Greene County School District.

Christensen states that since it’s too late in the year to hire anyone, they would have several people supervise the various athletic programs until a replacement is hired before the start of the 2014-15 school year looking at a 7-12 grade athletic director and assistant principal position.
