A Granger woman faces murder, arson and burglary charges after allegedly starting a former acquaintance’s home on fire last month.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, on June 2nd a Granger man reported that while he was asleep someone entered his home, stole some of his property and set fires in the house.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the three separate fires. Upon an investigation by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshall’s Office, evidence was found that lead them to Marcia Lynn Shaffer of Granger.
Shaffer was found to have some of the victim’s property in per possession on July 15th and was arrested.
She has been charged with attempt to commit murder, 1st degree burglary and 1st degree arson.
The Sheriff’s office says it appears that Shaffer acted alone and no additional arrests are anticipated.
She remains held in the Dallas County jail on a $100,000 bond.
