Greene County turned away CMB (Maxwell) at Allensworth Field in Jefferson on Thursday night by a score of 5-4 to avoid an upset at the hands of the last place team in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball standings. The Raiders end the regular season 1-21 and they finished 0-18 in the conference. Greene County improved to 14-15 on the year and 7-10 in league play.

Sophomore Colton Fitzpatrick improved to 3-2 on the season with a complete game victory. All the runs by CMB were unearned as the Rams had four errors. Fitzpatrick struck out nine batters and walked just one while allowed seven hits. Greene County also had seven hits with sophomore Dylan McConnell collecting two singles and two runs batted in. Matt Paulsen broke a 4-4 tie in the fourth with a base hit that scored Tory Beger with what proved to be the winning run. Beger singled with one out and advanced to second on an outfield error. The first four runs by the Rams came in the first inning. CMB scored once in the first and three times in the fourth.
