Two suspects arrested in Greene County face several charges in three different counties.
Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says around 2:37pm on Tuesday, they received a call about a stolen 2003 Chevrolet Impala from Rockwell City in Calhoun County at Spring Lake Park.
Sheriff Haupert says the two suspects, Zachary Michael Wailes of Breda and Josey Michael Wilson of Carroll, both 19, called an old high school classmate in Grand Junction claiming that they stole the Impala and were going to Spring Lake Park to swim.
When law enforcement officials arrived, they found the Impala, but Wailes and Wilson were not found in the park.
Sheriff Haupert states that the person at the Grand Junction home should call them back if the subjects return.
Around 8:49pm that same night, a call was made to the Law Enforcement Center in Jefferson and Sheriff Haupert describes the situation concerning the phone call.
“We did receive that call and they (the suspects) were in fact there but the people in that residence did not wish them to be there. In fact, they (the suspects) were more or less imposing themselves on it so they (homeowners) cleared out and we went in.”
He comments that Wailes and Wilson were transported to the Greene County Jail where they were booked and are currently being held.
Sheriff Haupert says charges are still pending but there are several drug charges from Carroll County, a stolen vehicle charge in Calhoun County and Haupert believes that the charges pending from Greene County will resolve several burglaries and thefts in the area.
