The city flower pots are just one of Stuart’s beautification projects.
Chamber of Commerce member, Audrey Wells says it’s important for everyone to take care of them, “it’s a volunteer effort and so don’t use them as garbage disposals. We have people that do that sometimes and we have had trouble sometimes with kids pulling out the plants and that kind of thing. No one gets paid to do this it is just something we do to beautify the town.”
The project started approximately 7 years ago and volunteers from the Chamber plants them every year.
Jeff Schwartzkopf with Schwartzkopf Builders helped get this started and Wells says he has done a wonderful job keeping up with the many pots all over town but it is a big job and he needs help.
With the hot weather here, anyone that is going to be busy or needs help with the watering is encouraged to contact Kari Snyder at 515-523-1743.
