Ogden’s Preston Church baptizes the ADM’s batters for 16 strikeouts in a 5-2 win for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs senior starter sat down the Tiger offense in order in three straight innings to begin the game while fanning eight of the nine possible outs.

Ogden’s offense scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning after having the first two batters reach on two fielding errors which came around to score on a double hit by Church.

The Bulldogs held a 4-0 lead going into the top of the sixth when the Tiger offense put on a late charge scoring the first two batters of the inning but left the bases loaded.  Ogden put up one more run in the bottom of the frame for the 5-2 victory.

ADM’s southpaw Sam Kornstad took the loss on the hill going six innings, allowing seven hits, five runs with one earned and striking out nine.  Church went the distance for Ogden giving up just three hits for two runs while walking four and striking out 16.

The Tigers were led offensively by leadoff man Grant Goeden who went two-for-three with a double, one stolen base and one run scored.

Ogden improves to 21-8 while ADM drops to 24-10.  The Tigers will return home tonight to face another ranked opponent, this time its number three in Class 1A Van Meter.  That game will be on K107 with the pregame show at 7:15pm and first pitch around 7:30.
