The Jefferson Police Department reports lower overall numbers for the recent Special Traffic Enforcement Program.
Captain Mark Clouse says that 95 warnings were issued and eight citations were given during the sTEP Wave program from July 1st through 8th. That’s lower than 133 warnings and 17 citations written during the previous sTEP program from May 20th to June 2nd.
He states that the highest number was for registration violations at 33 warnings and 19 seat belt violations. For other contacts, Captain Clouse reports only four arrest warrants were executed and there was one traffic-related investigation.
Finally, Captain Clouse comments that there were five police officers patrolling several locations while on duty during the sTEP program.
