The 2013 Comprehensive Plan process continues to move forward in Perry.

The City and Hoisington Koegler Group are currently compiling data from the first round of public meetings.  Mayor Jay Pattee says the results of this plan will shape the town’s future.

“It determines really the future of the next several years and the direction that Perry is going to take, some of the actions we’re gonna take, some of the projects we’re going to undertake, all of those things coming up” says Pattee. “And the neat thing about this comp plan is that the citizens are the ones that have the input.”

Whether it’s transportation, downtown revitalization, energy efficiency or housing diversity related, Pattee says it’s important that residents let their voices be heard.

“So many times we only hear from some of our local residents when something is wrong or something effects them personally and it’s always good to hear from those citizens.  Sometimes it can be controversial and sometimes not.  The nice thing about this is, this is a chance to be proactive, contribute, say where you think the city should be heading” adds Pattee.

Today the Comprehensive Plan steering group will meet to discuss progress thus far.  The second round of public meetings will take place in mid-May.  Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio for further information as the date gets closer.
