The Greene County seventh and eighth grade concert band will perform at the Adventureland Band Festival on Saturday.
Middle School band teacher Marty Brenden says the festival resembles state large group contest in that the students compete for an overall rating. The best you can get is a division I rating which exemplifies a superior performance. The only difference is, Brenden adds, is that the top bands receive trophies. Last year, they received a “Best In Class” trophy.
Brenden states that the selections the public enjoyed at Tuesday night’s concert will be the same songs performed on Saturday at the festival. He believes that the public should be able to hear contest pieces before they are performed in front of judges so parents and friends can acknowledge the hard work that the students put in for competition.
