The forecast is calling for continued cold weather, which prompted officials to cancel the Greene County Early Bird coed track and field meet for high school teams scheduled for Monday, March 25. The event had a built in makeup date of March 26, but temperatures aren’t supposed to be above the 30’s for highs either day, so the meet has been cancelled and won’t be made up. Greene County Activities Director Dave Waskow told Raccoon Valley Radio the temperatures usually need to be at least in the middle 40’s for the Early Bird meet to be held. All high school spring sports in Iowa are being hampered by the unusually cold weather.

The cancellation of the March 25 meet leaves the April 15 Ram Relays as the only high school track meet in Jefferson remaining on the schedule.
