The Boys and Girls Club of Central Southwest Iowa and the Food Bank of Iowa recently launched their first Mobile Food Pantry at the Casey Community Building. Items received included baked goods, breads, juice, fresh pears, canned fruit, canned vegetables, spaghetti, frozen meat, rice, boxed goodies, crackers, potatoes and oatmeal
This mobile food pantry program provided an additional access point for those in need to obtain food and helped fill the gap for rural communities. With the help of Casey Fire Department, Adair-Casey Methodist Church members, Adair County Supervisor Tom Twombly, Cottage Food Pantry in Stuart, New Opportunities Food Pantry in Guthrie Center, Boys and Girls Club board members and staff, and the Food Bank of Iowa, the event met the needs of 76 families.
The next event is scheduled for Saturday, June 15.
