Drought conditions remain primarily the same throughout the Raccoon River Valley.
The National Climatic Data Center’s latest drought monitor shows the majority of Dallas, Greene and Guthrie Counties remains in a severe drought. While the northern part of Greene County still suffers from extreme drought conditions.
So far this month Perry has had 0.05” of precipitation, compared to their normal amount of just under one inch. Jefferson usually gets about an inch of precipitation too, but they’ve seen just 0.13” so far. Guthrie County is the driest in the area so far this month with just a trace amount of precipitation recorded.
There is sleet and snow in the forecast this weekend, which could help us get closer to the normal levels.
