Department heads in Perry are working on their fiscal year 2014 budget worksheets in preparation for the upcoming work sessions.
The annual budget timeline was presented to the Mayor and City Council at this week’s meeting. Right now, they plan to work on the budget during 7 different work sessions and meetings between now and March 4th.
City Administrator Butch Niebuhr says things can get a little tense at time, but that’s because people are passionate about Perry.
Finance Officer Susie Moorhead says during the first meeting they will discuss requested expenditures compared to estimated revenues and the council will receive a listing of capital expenditure requests.
The second round of work sessions will take place early next month, where they will work on balancing the expenditures and revenues.
Based on current economic conditions, department heads have been asked to keep operating expenditures at approximately the same levels as recent years.
The first work session takes place Tuesday at 3:30pm in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
