The fall deadline to apply for the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program is fast approaching.
Iowa farmers have until October 19th to be considered for the first round of funding selections. Though the EQIP program is available through a continuous signup, funding selections are made periodically.
Run through the United States Department of Agriculture, EQIP offers financial assistance to install conservation practices such as nutrient management, terraces, grassed waterways, manure management facilities and pasture management.
During the last fiscal year, the program awarded $26 million to Iowa farmers to treat natural resource concerns.
If you’re not able to fill out an application by the October 19th deadline, other signup priority dates have been set for December 21st, February 15th and April 19th
