Perry CSD “Your Three Words”

The Perry School Board met in regular session Monday night.

During the annual organizational meeting, the board re-elected Kathy Powell as the board Presidents and Dan Wilhelmi as Vice President, voted to keep the regular board meetings on the second Monday of each month at 6:30pm in the Brady Library and kept all board committee selections the same with the exception of Jim Lutmer now serving on the Negotiations Committee instead of Powell. They also reappointed Powell as the district’s Iowa Association of School Board delegate assembly and legislative representative and reappointed Wilhelmi as the Dallas County conference board representative.

During the regular board meeting, Superintendent Lynn Ubben reported that the baseball and softball field lights will be delivered this week and the high school roof project is moving forward as well.

Next, Teaching and Learning Director Elyse Brimeyer presented information on the district’s professional development activities and showed a “Your Three Words” video which staff members put together during the Iowa Core Professional Development Session last month.

Brimeyer also shared the district’s annual improvement goals which include a 6% increase in proficiency in reading, math and science, based on the Iowa Assessment.  The board unanimously approved the goals, though Lutmer was absent.

After a presentation from Transportation Director Troy Griffith, the board voted to approve hiring of a mechanic for the district.  They also approved revisions to board policies in regards to freedom of expression, weapons and search and seizure and approved personnel changes.

Finally, Superintendent Ubben and the board thanked the district’s custodial staff for all their hard work this summer completing many improvement projects.
