The Perry Jayettes defeated GMG yesterday 28-23 at the annual North Polk Jamboree in Alleman.  Perry raced out to a 28-9 lead early in the second quarter before pulling the starters and allowing GMG to get back into the game.  Johanna Diw and Molly Lutmer provided the offense scoring 13 points each.  The Jayettes struggled from the foul line going 1-8 in the two quarter exhibition game.  Diw and Lutmer each finished with three 3-pointers. It’s very early in the high school Winter sports seasons for Greene County High School, but the emphasis on more student participation is paying off. The girls’ basketball program has 33 participants, the boys report 45, and there are 25 wrestlers. Those are in grades 9-12 for each sport. In all three cases, the numbers are up from a season ago. Former East Greene and Greene County high school football player T.J. Lint finished his Buena Vista University career with another outstanding performance. The Beavers lost in Cedar Rapids on Saturday to Coe College, 35-33. Lint had eight catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns vs. the Kohawks. Guthrie County Supervisors Officially Approve Election Results

The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. County Conservation Director Joe Hanner informed the Board that the department is still completing routine maintenance at Nations Bridge Park, including repairing water lines. Hanner also noted that campers and hikers have given the department positive feedback on the trail patching improvements. Hanner and the Board also discussed county wildlife trends.
