The John Wayne Birthplace Museum in Winterset will celebrate John Wayne’s 110th Birthday on May 26th and 27th. The scheduled events include Film presentations of Stagecaoach, Fort Apache, and Eldorado, a Country Barn Dance, Breakfast at the Winterset Fire Station, a 5K Run/Walk, a Horse Parade, and a Museum Benefit Dinner and Auction. The Perry Public Library will be closed Sunday, May 28th and today, May 29th for the Memorial Day Holiday. Summer hours will begin following the holiday, with the library remaining closed on Sundays until after Labor Day.

Memorial Day Programs will be performed by the Minburn American Legion Post 99 at Brown Cemetery at 9:30 am, Kimrey Cemetery at 10 am, Elmwood cemetery at 10:30 am and the Raccoon River Bridge at 11 am. Bugler will be Emily Judd and their will be a guest speaker.
Memorial Day services will be held today at the St. Joseph Cemetery starting at 9:30 am. Services at the Jefferson City Cemetery will begin at 10:45 am. A Salute to Fallen Heroes will be held at both locations by the Joint VFW/American Legion Firing Squad. At the City Cemetery, the Jefferson Fire Department will raise the American Flag. The Greene County High School Band will perform “Salute to Freedom” and the “National Anthem”. There willalso be a Memorial Day Address by retired Sgt. Major Jim Riley.
The Annual Memorial Day Dinner will be held today from 11 am to 1 pm at the Grand Junction Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction.

The Dallas County Fair Board will welcome the new Dallas County Executive Director, Jeff Jackson and Regional Director Andrea Nelson on Wednesday May 31st from 4:00-6:00 pm. Fair Board Ribbon Cutting will be a 5:15pm. There will be a Bounce House, Fair Food, Fair Exhibits, Kids Activities and a drawing for Fair Event Tickets. Special Guest Cy the ISU Mascot will also be there.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Special Olympics All-Wheel Show will be held Saturday, June 3rd, on the Square in downtown Adel. Pre-Registration is $15 for the first car and $5 for other cars per owner, and is due by Friday May 26th. All Pre-Registrations get a free T-Shirt.
