Heating Assistance Mobile Unit

Stuart/Menlo residents in Guthrie County needing to sign up for heating assistance (LIHEAP), the mobile unit will be in Stuart on January 26th at the United Methodist Church, 219 NW 2ND St, Stuart Iowa from 9am-3pm. Casey Chili Cook-off
Jan 21 @ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Casey Chili Cook-off will be held today at the Casey’s Visitor Center. Admissions will be $10 for adults, and $5 for kids. The proceeds will go toward the Casey Service Scholarship. Serving time will be from 4 PM to 6 PM. If you want to enter the chili cook-off there will be three categories, spicy unique, and best overall. Adair County Cattlemen’s Banquet

The Adair County Cattlemen’s Banquet will be held tonight at the 4-H Building at the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield.  The Social starts at 5 pm, Dinner at 6 pm.  Guest Speaker will be Brian Jones.  Award and Scholarship Presentations, and a Auction will be taking place tonight as well.  Tickets are $20 at the door.  If you have any questions, contact Trent Raasch at 515-321-9334.

Benefit for Mike Picard

There will be a Benefit held for Mike Picard on Sunday January 22, at the Southeast Valley High School Cafeteria from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. There will be Chili, Homemade Turkey Noodle Soup and Baked Goods available. Free Will Donations will be accepted and there will also be a Silent Auction. Adair County 4H and FFA Horse Project Meeting

All Adair County 4H and FFA members planning to exhibit Ponies or Horses are urged to attend a special workshop on Sunday, January 22nd from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Extension Office meeting room. Parents are also encouraged to attend. This meeting is to review identification and show requirements, explore ways to demonstrate your knowledge outside the show ring, and gather input for County Fair and summer workouts.

Childcare Provider Training: Improving Transition Times

Community Baby Shower

Spud Night at Iowa Arboretum

The Iowa Arboretum invites you to come out and enjoy a potato bar with all the fixings tonight from 4 pm to 7 pm.  Also, Andy Bartlett, DNR Park Manager of Ledges State Park, will be giving a presentation about the park at 5:30 pm.  The cost is $8.00.  The Arboretum grounds are open every day from sunrise to sunset and located 2.5 miles west and 2 miles south of Luther in Boone County.

Thursday Therapy Supper

 Thursday Therapy Supper will be held at Event Center at Guthrie Co. Fairgrounds, Thursday, January 26, 2017 5:30-8:00. Chicken & Noodles over mashed potatoes with the fixings will be served. Carry-outs available. Cost is $8 for adults $5 for children 10 and under., and a  $3 dessert bar. This is a Fundraiser for the new small animal (Poultry & Rabbit) barn.

Library Scrapbook “Crop” Fundraiser

Community Conversation in Jefferson

Community Conversation will be held tonight at 5:30 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.  Leading the conversation will be Ellen Ritter, Coordinator of Disability Services and Regional QA officer.  She provides overall direction, coordination, and management of County/regional mental health services for the citizens of Audubon, Greene, and Guthrie Counties.  Come early for some fellowship and snacks.

Valentine’s Party at Perry Public Library

City Of Stuart Ice Removal

The City of Stuart is sending notice to Property and Business Owners. This is the first winter following the new walk construction in the downtown area. The use of Salt the first winter on new concrete can be detrimental to the lifespan of the concrete. They ask that you Do Not Apply Salt to the new walks, but instead use Sand, Kitty Litter or Nitrogen Based Fertilizer. For more information contact the City of Stuart.

Guthrie County Fair Steak Supper

The 3rd Annual Guthrie Co. Fair Steak Supper will be held Saturday, March 18. Social time at 5:00. Supper at 6:00. This is a Fundraiser for the Guthrie Co. Fair. Tickets may be purchased from any fair board member for $20. Tickets are limited and will not be sold at the door.
