The Perry Public Library March Lifelong Learners Coffee, will be Monday, March 27, at 9:00a.m., in the large meeting room, welcoming guest therapist Emily Smith, LISW, from Prairie Wellness in Des Moines. She will share her expertise on mindfulness practices and mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), and lead you in a guided meditation. This program is free and open to the public. The Guthrie County ISU Extension and Outreach will hold a Farmer’s Coffee at the Extension office, Thursday, March 30th at 9:30 am, to discuss palmer amaranth and dealing with dicamba. There is no cost or registration required. The Speaker will be ISU Agronomist Mike Witt.
Perry High School will present their Spring Musical, “Peter Pan-Your Heart Will Fly On Wings” on Friday, March 31st at 6:30pm and Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 and 6:30pm. The Guthrie County 4H Clubs will sponsor a Garage Sale on Saturday, April 1st, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the old Community Building at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. There will also be a 50/50 Raffle and a Bake Sale. All proceeds will go towards the construction of the new Small Animal Barn at the Fairgrounds.
The City of Pilot Mound Fire Department is having a biscuits and gravy benefit and a bake sale, Saturday, April 1st, from 8am to 1pm at the Pilot Mound Community Center.
The Menlo American Legion Auxilary will have a Rummage Sale on Saturday, April 1st, from 8:00am -1:00pm at the Menlo Community Building. Clean, gently used items can be dropped off at the community building 3/28-3/30 from 3:00-7:00pm and 3/31 from 8:00am-noon. All proceeds go to support Veterans in the commmunity.
The Greene County Genealogical Society will meet today at 10 am in the basement meeting room of the Jefferson Public Library. Everyone is asked to participate with special family memories. Guests are always welcome. The meeting room is handicapped accessible.

The City of Paton is hosting a Ranchers Wildfire Relief Benefit Supper tonight. The meal will include burgers, baked beans, chips, desserts and beverages. Cost is a free will offering. The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association and the Greene County Pork Producers will be helping with the meal. The supper will be served between 5 pm and 8 pm. All proceeds will be given to the relief effort for the ranchers who lost their livestock in the massive wildfires in the southern part of the country. Anyone who wants to make a monetary donation can drop off a check to the Community State Bank in Paton, under the Ranchers Wildlife Relief Benefit fund.
The Churdan United Methodist Church will host it’s annual Roast Beef Dinner today from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the church in Churdan. The menu will include: Roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet corn, salad and dessert bar, rolls and drinks.
The Good Samaritan Food Pantry will hold an Open House on Sunday, April 2nd from Noon- 2:00pm, at their new facility located in the old Adel Middle School Lunchroom, at 215 North 11th Street in Adel. They will serve Beverages and Sweet Treats as they show you their new facility.
The St. Patrick’s Knight of Columbus Fish Fry will be held every Friday evening during Lent, at St. Patrick’s School Gym, located at 5th and Lucinda, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Delicious fried or baked fish, baked potato, coleslaw, drink and dessert, for only $8 for adults, $4.50 for ages 10 and younger. A $25 maximum for family with children. Shrimp will be available March 17th and 24th for an additional charge.
