The Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary will host it’s 2nd annual salad luncheon today. Auxilians will prepare and serve the salads to attendees at Clover Hall in Jefferson, from 11 am to 1 pm. Take outs are available. Tickets are $6 and available from any Auxiliary member or in the Gift Garden of the medical center. Raffle tickets are also available with a chance to win a variety of donated items.

The Veterans Groups in Jefferson will host a Soup Supper tonight from 5 pm to 7 pm at the VFW Hall on the east side of the square in Jefferson. The menu will include: Chili, chicken noodle soup, desserts and beverages. Cost is a free-will donation. Bring your old and tattered flags for proper disposal. There will be a flag deposit bin in the alley.
The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library will be holding their 25th annual Used Book Sale at the Library. September 23 is open to Friends of the Library Members only with $5 Memberships sold at the door, and then open to the Public 25th through the 30. Every thing will be half price on the 30th. They are also excepting donations of Books,CDs, DVDs Audio Tapes, Games and Puzzles.
Avondale Church, at 3089 Fallow Ave in rural Fontanelle, which is 10 miles west of Orient, will hold their fall supper and bazaar on Saturday, September 23. The Perry Historic Preservation Commission and Hometown Heritage will unveil a new relief for the Wall of Witnesses at Soumas Court in Perry. The relief depicts Jim Walstrom, a local resident and Perry Ambassador. The unveiling and a short program will take place tonight in the gallery of the Town Craft Building at 5 pm. There will be light refreshments, and the event is free and open to the public.
Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center in Adel will be hosting a Cruise Into Bouton Car Show on September 30, from noon –5:00 pm. There will be Live Bands, An Auction, Food and Cars! The Winterset Knights of Columbus will host Bingo this evening from 7 pm to 9 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1026 N 8th Avenue in Winterset. The national certification program for food service managers, ServSafe, will be held in Greenfield on October 2, at the Adair County ISU Extension and Outreach in Greenfield. Course Cost is $150 and includes 8 hours class time, a manual, and the national certification exam. There is a $50 discount for Iowa Restaurant Association members. The Pumpkin Express at the Boone and scenic Valley Railroad will be today and October 14th and 21st. Dress in your Halloween costume and take the family on this hone hour and 30 minute journey to the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad’s pumpkin patch. Children will be able to pick their perfect pumpkin before returning to town. On the trip back, children will receive an activity booklet and a treat. The Perry Public Library will host a Document Shredding Event facilitated by The Shredder of Des Moines, on Monday, October 14th from 10:00 am to noon, in the south parking lot of the library. Bring your outdated files and records for on site shredding for disposal. There is no charge for this service and it is sponsored by the Library and the City of Perry
