guthrie county fairLast week was another successful Thursday Therapy Supper at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds.

Guthrie County Fair Board President C.W. Thomas says they raised another $3,000-$4,000.  That brings their total up to over $20,000 since they began this monthly event in April.

Thomas states that five local banks donated money to pay for the food that was served at last week’s event.  Participating banks were People’s Trust and Savings Bank, Guthrie County State Bank, First State Bank, Farmers State Bank and Panora State Bank.

He adds that all the proceeds from the Thursday Therapy Suppers go to the new community building on the fairgrounds.

Thomas points out the structure is 125-foot-by-60-foot with the walls up and the electrical has been roughed in and put in the false ceiling.

He talks about how much more money they need to finish the community center.

“We probably need about another $120,000 to climatize it and insulate it and lower the ceilings and make it a completely usable event (center) for the community.”

The next two suppers are scheduled for October 16th and November 20th.
