A winter storm warning will be in effect for most of the state later today.

According to the National Weather Service, Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties will be under a winter storm warning from noon today through 6am Saturday. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected to be the main threat, with as much as eight inches of snow across the listening area. Wind gusts of upwards of 30-miles-per-hour could cause blowing and drifting snow and there may be periods of snow-covered roadways. The main portion of the snowfall is anticipated to begin in the early afternoon and continue through the overnight tonight.

Following the winter storm warning will be sub-zero temperatures on Saturday night and into Sunday. Wind chills could get as low as 13 below zero in our listening area.
