A slow first quarter start played a role in the first loss of the winter for the Panorama Panthers varsity girls basketball team. The Panthers fell behind 19-5 after the first quarter, falling to Class 3A No. 6 Des Moines Christian, 47-37. Senior Bailey Beckman topped Panorama with seven points while sophomore Ella Waddle had six in the setback. The loss is the first in 12 games played this season for the Panorama girls basketball team. The Panorama boys basketball team lost the nightcap to the Lions, 46-41. Junior Kolby Shackelford had a team-best 15 points for Panorama in the loss. The Panorama Panthers basketball teams are scheduled to play the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in a nonconference varsity doubleheader. The girls’ contest is set to start around 4 p.m. and the boys to follow from Panorama high school in Panora.
