The Greene County High School basketball teams are in non-conference action tonight in the middle school gym in Jefferson hosting the Winterset Huskies. Coverage on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow. The games are the first at home in 2019 for the Greene County teams.

Gilbert swept a twin bill from Greene County last Friday night in Gilbert. The girls’ final was 71-22 and the Tigers won the boys’ game 91-64. Those losses dropped the Rams to 0-11 on the girls’ side and 5-7 for the boys.

Both Greene County teams will get on a bus Tuesday for Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action in Nevada. This week marks the third time this season the Rams play back-to-back on a Monday and Tuesday. Nevada swept the Rams in December at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Greene County boys also play this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Gilbert vs. Dallas Center-Grimes as part of a four-game boys’ basketball showcase involving eight teams. Coach Chris Nelson expects to have Paton-Churdan transfer Tyler Miller for the first time this season when the Rams play Saturday against the Mustangs. Miller is a 6′ 9″ junior who has not been eligible to play varsity basketball due to the transfer rule.
