The Greene County High School basketball teams play in Gilbert tonight and the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at six o’clock, and the boys to follow.

Tyler Westhoff is the head coach of the Greene County girls (0-10, 0-7) who are still looking for their first victory of the season. Coach Westhoff was asked to talk about areas the Rams have improved in since the start of practice. “We’ve improved on quite a few things, actually. I think our rebounding is significantly better from day one, and we’re starting to see improvements in the press break.” The Gilbert girls won the first meeting in Jefferson early last month by a 55-21 score.

The Gilbert boys also won by 34 points the first the Tigers and Rams met. That final was 95-61 in favor of the visiting team after the Rams led 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Greene County boys are 5-6 on the season while the Tigers are 9-2.
