Another state tournament tuneup took the Panorama Panther varsity wrestling to the Perry Invitational Saturday. The Panthers were among 17 teams to compete in the annual tournament hosted by Perry Community Schools. Panorama placed 12th in the final team standings with 74 points. Six Panther wrestlers placed eighth or better in their weight class. Sophomore Wyatt Appleseth (145) recorded the best finish for Panorama, placing third overall. Appleseth won three of his four matches Saturday, recording one pinfall and two major decision wins. Appleseth suffered his second loss of the winter in the semifinal round, losing an 8-2 decision to West Delaware’s Cael Meyer. Garret Fox (170) had the next best result for Panorama with a fourth-place finish. Other top-eight finishes for Panorama include Logan Christe (113) and Noah Kirtley (152) sixth, Emry Colby (160) seventh and Hunter Holmes (285) eighth. The Panorama Panthers varsity wrestling team continues their dual season in Truro Thursday, grappling Interstate 35, Southeast Warren, and Van Meter in a quadrangular event. First matches to begin around 5:30 p.m. from Interstate 35 High School.
