The Mayor of Jamaica and her husband were arrested after a marijuana growing operation was found in their house Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputies went to the residence of Randy and LaDonna Kennedy at 500 1st Avenue in Jamaica on a tip from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to look for Jefferson resident Rodney Halterman who has an active arrest warrant for attempted murder in Story County. While executing the search warrant law enforcement found 18 marijuana plants and nine packaged bags of marijuana. Numerous drug paraphernalia related items were located in the house as well as an unlabeled bottle of Lorazepam, an anxiety medication. Halterman was not located.

LaDonna and Randy were both arrested and charged with manufacture with intent to deliver no more than 50 kilograms of marijuana, an aggravated misdemeanor; two counts of failure to affix a drug stamp, class D felonies; one count of knowingly keeping a dwelling for possessing or selling a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance – first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
