The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference shifted its annual conference wrestling tournament from the third Saturday of January to the third Friday. The 2019 tournament starts at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Saydel High School in Des Moines with all eight HOIAC teams taking part. Class 2A number one ranked PCM (Monroe) is the heavy favorite to repeat as tournament champions.

Greene County placed second a season ago, well behind the Mustangs, and first year head coach Zach Beekman’s Rams would appear to have a chance to finish up there again, provided they can fill most of the 14 weight classes. Injury, illness, and ineligibility, have hampered Greene County this season. At no time has the coaching staff been able to put the lineup on the mat they thought they would have when the season began, although the Rams have developed some depth at certain weights and open weight classes have been kept to a minimum.
