The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.

The Board approved a new policy that allows for students to apply for a school permit that live less than one mile from the high school for a school-sanctioned activity or club before or after school with the Board to review the requests. Additionally, the Board approved to pay head girls and boys soccer coaches each $3,413 for six units and $2,275 for four units each for one assistant coach, along with transportation and officials for under the total cost of $20,700.

The Board then formed a sub-committee with board member Steve Fisher to create a new program with the local FFA chapter to farm the land that is near the site of the new high school and career academy that the school district owns. The Board also approved to let the project out for bids and set the regular meeting in February as the public hearing date to accept the construction bids.

Other items the Board approved included: a technology consulting services agreement with Tech Zone following the retirement of Tim Buenz at the end of this school year for $100 per hour on an as needed basis, reappointed Superintendent Tim Christensen as the representative on the Bell Tower Community Foundation Board, they also approved two fundraiser requests for the middle school student council and FFA, and an interfund loan resolution as presented to pay for some of the architect expenses with the school project on a short-term basis.
