Attendees at the Java and Juice event on Friday to hear updates on APE

A small group heard an update about a building project for the Animal Protection and Education (APE) Agency in Paton.

Linn Price with APE said in the weekly Java and Juice program on Friday at the Welcome Center in Jefferson that they recently purchased a permanent building in Boone for their non-profit organization. APE provides low-cost spay and neutering clinics for animals, along with microchipping and vaccinations. Price said the building will serve as an office space for their over 10,000 records of vaccinations for animals and supplies for their mobile clinics. It will also serve as a location for animals to be spayed, neutered and microchipped.

Price noted that they’ve served Greene County and the surrounding counties for 15 years and have helped over 20,000 animals. They are also the only non-profit mobile unit in Iowa to offer spay and neutering. The non-profit raised over $33,000 to purchase the building located at  801 West Mamie Eisenhower Avenue Price said they plan to open by the first week in February and will continue to use their mobile unit to serve a three to five county area including Greene County.
