This Saturday is the Iowa High School Speech Association’s District Large Group Contest.

Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts will send several students to Perry High School to compete. Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray says six groups will be participating including: two group improv, radio news, choral reading presenting “Horton Hears a Who,” readers theater presenting “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales,” and a one-act play entitled “Divided We Fall.” Close to 25 students will be attending.

As for Paton-Churdan, Speech Coach Stephanie Pace says they have three groups going, which include: readers theater, musical theater and tv news. There are ten students who are participating.

Admission is $3 per person and the public is invited to attend.
