acgcFor the first time in program history the ACGC basketball teams trekked to Pleasantville for a West Central Activities Conference matchup with the Trojans. The Chargers came away with a split Friday night, winning the girls contest 44-34 and dropping the boys in overtime 57-59.

The girls game was close through the first three quarters, as neither team held more than a two-point advantage at the close of a quarter. But the Chargers pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Trojans 14-6. The gold and black used their interior offense to grab the crucial conference victory. Freshman Chloe Largent led all scores with 15 points, while senior Jadeyn Carrick added 13. Senior Jordan Dursky led all Trojans with 14 points, six of which came off the only two made three-pointers from either side.

The boys side was also a back-and-forth affair. The Trojans took a 33-26 lead into the locker room at the half thanks to four made three-pointers by junior Tagen Douma. The Chargers were down 30-40 midway through the third, but the gold and black stormed back on a 16-0 run to lead by four early in the fourth. The Trojans regained the lead late in the fourth, but ACGC senior Noah Nelsen hit a game-tying three-pointer with a little over four seconds remaining to send the contest into overtime. In the extra session, the Chargers had the ball with less ten seconds remaining. Following a missed shot Douma took the loose ball, drove the length of the court, and scored the winning basket with two seconds left.

Despite the setback, Charger junior Quynton Younker scored a team-high 17 points and reached the 500 point mark for his career. He becomes just the second Charger to accomplish that milestone. The girls improve to 8-6 (6-4). The boys drop to 4-9 (2-8). Both teams will host the Ogden Bulldogs on Tuesday.
