(Updated 10 a.m.) Last weekend saw the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity wrestling team recorded a top-five finish during this past weekend’s Gary Christensen Invitational. The Tigers placed fifth in Winterset’s annual wrestling tournament with 118.5 points. ADM head wrestling coach Chris Hatchitt tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the tournament provided lots of good competition after the holiday break. “Waukee is there, they bring their team,” Hatchitt said, “There’s Council Bluffs, Urbandale, there a re some (Class) 1A teams like I 35 and Underwood. There are some quality teams there.”

ADM had six grapplers place in the top six of their weight class with two boys coming away as the champions of their bracket. Seniors Andrew Flora (126) and Nolan Harsh (182) represented the Tigers atop the podium last weekend. Flora tallied a major decision and two decision victories on his way to another tournament championship. Harsh recorded two pinfall victories and a decision win to take first place. Senior Hogan Hopewell (132), sophomore Justice Paulsen (195), and junior Kaden Sutton (220) all placed fourth overall while senior Charles Craigmile (170) finished sixth overall. The Tigers return to the mat this evening, grappling the Norwalk Warriors and the Grinnell Tigers in a nonconference triangular at Norwalk High School.
