The number one ranked team in Class 3A flexed its muscles Friday night inside the middle school gym in Jefferson as the North Polk (Alleman) girls’ basketball team rolled to a 76-13 victory over Greene County. Coach Clint Albertsen’s Comets started the game with a 27-0 run, holding the Rams scoreless the first 10:20 of playing time.

The Rams made  just six shots on the night and turned the ball over 28 times. Sophomore Sadie Wilson had six points on a pair of three-point goals. Junior Bailey Cunningham had a three and a two for five points, and junior Izzy Bravard scored the other two points.

NP had 22 points from sophomore Maggie Phipps. Junior Jaedon Murphy added 15 points and sophomore Abi Zimmer scored 13. The Comets made 34 of 61 shots from the field including six of 11 from three-point range and they had just seven turn overs. NP is 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.

The Rams (0-5, 0-3) go to Monroe Tuesday to face PCM for a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
