Perry School Board 11-12

The Perry School Board convened Monday night in regular session.

The meeting began with several reports, starting with one from teachers who attended the recent Talented and Gifted (TAG) conference in Minneapolis. Each teacher discussed specific takeaways they had from the three-day event. Following that, Board members Kyle Baxter and Linda Andorf, as well as Superintendent Clark Wicks, went over what they learned at the annual Iowa Association of School Boards conference. They also briefly discussed the five year facility plan, and Wicks advised the Board to submit ideas for priorities to him before December 21st.

In general business, the Board approved a fundraiser for the Technology Student Association (TSA) program, where the group will prepare and sell meals at upcoming basketball games. All proceeds will go toward supplies needed for future contests. The Board also approved revisions to policies, early graduation requests, and personnel changes. Finally, they had discussion but no action on the plans for the new industrial technology facility and wrestling room, as submitted by the construction management firm UNESCO. The Board will look over the plans and vote on which they want at a special meeting to be held Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Clarion Room at Perry City Hall.
