Residents in various parts of Guthrie County cast their ballots in three special elections Tuesday.

Two elections were held to elect trustees for the Rural Improvement Zones (RIZ) at Lake Panorama and Diamondhead Lake. Larry Petersen ran unopposed for a three-year-term for the Lake Panorama RIZ and received 42 votes. Ronald Baiotto also ran unopposed for the Diamondhead Lake RIZ and received 22 votes.

The third special election was held for residents in the Coon Rapids-Bayard School District. The ballot measure proposing a change in the election method for the district Board of Directors passed with 47 versus 36 votes. The Board of Directors will now be elected as seven directors representing the whole district, instead of six residents serving six director districts and one director serving at large.

Election results are unofficial until a canvassing by the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors.
