Another pair of unselfish performances helped the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity basketball teams to another Raccoon River Conference sweep Friday night. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network followed the Tigers down to Mel Penrod Gymnasium in Madison County for a league doubleheader versus rival Winterset. ADM won both contests going way with the girls’ contests ending 55-42 and the boys game finishing 63-48.

Friday night was the third victory this calendar year for the ADM girls basketball team over Winterset in Madison County, and the first contest not decided on the final possession. The Tigers dished out 14 total assists in the win. ADM junior Delaney Bertman registered 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the victory. Free throw shooting played a role in the outcome with ADM making 10 of their 17 attempts and Winterset converting just nine of their 21 free throws. Senior Madison Wauters led Winterset with 24 points scored. The win is the third straight for the Tigers, improving their overall record to 4-1 and 2-0 inside the Raccoon River Conference.

The ADM boys basketball team overcame a 17-9 first-quarter deficit to run away with their second straight double-figure victory over a league foe. The Tigers dished out 15 total assists in the win. Sophomore Nate Mueller topped ADM with 25 points scored, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Senior Koby Hardcastle added 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the win. Junior Easton Darling led Winterset with 25 points.

The ADM girls basketball team resumes their season Monday in a nonconference contest at Coon Rapids-Bayard. The Tiger boys basketball team continues their competition schedule on Tuesday at home versus the Carlisle Wildcats.
