acgcThe ACGC girls basketball team has already matched their program best four wins in a single season. They’ll look to notch a record fifth win in their first six games as they clash with the Earlham Cardinals tonight in a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader.

In many respects, the Chargers and the Cardinals are in the same position in the early goings. Both teams are tied for the third best overall record and fourth best conference record at 4-1 (2-1). Both teams have also defeated Grand View Christian by large margins and lost to Des Moines Christian by similar point spreads. They are so similar, head coach Dan Baker referred to the Cardinals as mirror images of the gold and black.

Sophomore Katie Noah leads the Cardinals in scoring and steals, averaging just over 13 points and nearly five steals per game. Senior Lizzie Arnburg leads the team in rebounds and assists, averaging seven and three per contest. Earlham has scored just seven points fewer than the Chargers through the first five games.

ACGC is one of only two teams in the conference with six players averaging at least five points per game. Junior Kennedy Young is coming off a career high 13 points in their overtime win at Ogden on Friday. Young is shooting at a 56.7%, good enough for fourth best in the conference with a minimum of ten attempts.
