Greene County went 3-2 Saturday at the Ogden dual meet wrestling tournament and Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams finished in fourth place among 10 teams. The Rams stand at 4-5 overall after Saturday’s action.

The Rams were in Pool B, going 3-1 for second place in pool play. The Rams began the day with a 41-39 loss to East Sac County (Lake View), then went on a three match winning streak. The first win of the day was by a 72-12 score vs. Coon Rapids-Bayard. Next was a 52-29 victory vs. Kuemper Catholic (Carroll), and the Rams downed the host Bulldogs 72-6. The day ended with a 46-15 loss to GTRA (Graettinger), the second place team in Pool A.

Freshman Brenner Gallagher was the lone Ram to go 5-0 on the day and he did so by wrestling just twice. He collected three forfeits to go with a fall and a technical fall primarily at 106 lbs., and one match at 113. Sophomore Brady Stauffer (138) went 4-1 with two overtime victories, one fall and a forfeit.  Junior Will Hansen (152) was 4-1 with three first period falls and a forfeit. Senior Brock Wuebker made his season debut and went 4-1 with four matched at 182 lbs. and one at 170. He racked up three fall and a forfeit. Sophomore Sawyer Schiltz (220/285) made his varsity debut and went 2-1 with two falls.

Other Rams with winning records Saturday among those with at least one contested match include junior Matt Naberhaus, 2-1 at 285, Braden Gallagher 3-2 at 106/113, junior Joe Davis 3-2 at 132, junior Colby Kafer, 3-2 at 160, and senior Joe Anderson 3-2 at 195.

Greene County was without at least four wrestlers who have been or are anticipated to be in the varsity lineup because of injuries, illness, and other factors.
