acgcWhile the ACGC volleyball team won’t be in the state field this week in Cedar Rapids, a core group of senior girls are already shifting their focus to the basketball season. Three of the four seniors on the Charger volleyball team played significant minutes this fall. That trio includes Jadeyn Carrick, Genevieve Hoover, and Savana Fuller. All three are also expected to contribute significant minutes on the basketball court this winter.

Carrick, who is the single-season scoring leader for ACGC girls basketball, is grateful for the support she has received from her teammates. “It feels great to compete with someone that’s been with me throughout my whole high school career. Just, knowing that I can battle against them two, really works. Especially Savana (Fuller) being the other middle (blocker), I can battle against her and we have fun.”

Carrick also hopes the recent success on the volleyball court transfers over to basketball. Other seniors expected to play this upcoming season include Sierra O’Brien, Chelsea Larsen, and Josie Sargent. Fellow senior Lauryn Embleton, who saw some time in the starting lineup early last season, will likely miss a significant portion of the upcoming season due to injuries sustained during fall cross country.
