The State Medical Examiner’s office has released the cause of death from last Friday’s plane crash in Guthrie County.

Sources say, the four victims died from “multiple blunt force injuries in the setting of carbon monoxide toxicity.” The fatal incident happened Friday when a group of four individuals took off in a small aircraft from Le Mars. The pilot, 49-year-old Edward Anderson of Le Mars, reportedly suffered a heart attack and a student pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing in Guthrie County. The plane went missing until it was found just after 6:30am last Saturday in a cow pasture southwest of the intersection of 265th and Maple Avenue.

Anderson, along with 36-year-old Patrick Kellen of Le Mars, 28-year-old Tyler Douvia of Merrill, and 15-year-old Samantha Clark of Le Mars all died in the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
