acgcA historic season for the ACGC football program was capped off by the announcement of All-District honors after Van Meter’s defeat to West Sioux, Hawarden on Saturday. Seven Chargers were placed on this year’s 1st, 2nd, or honorable mention teams for Class 1A District 8.

Senior Ben Kingery was one of the three running backs named to the 1st Team, joining Ian Abrahamson of Van Meter and Keelan Klommhaus of Mt. Ayr. Kingery notched ACGC’s first 1,000 yard season this year with 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns. Juniors Sam Madsen and Quynton Younker also made the 1st Team on the offensive and defensive lines respectively.

Kingery’s classmate, Gabe Rowley, made the 2nd Team for running backs. William Shull of Clarinda was the other running back to be named to the 2nd Team. A pair of sophomores also made the 2nd Team on the defensive line. Gage Buttler and Lucas Marsh were honored with that distinction. Marsh is now the record holder at ACGC for most sacks in a season with 4.5. He also has the single-game record with three against Clarinda.

Junior quarterback Bryce Littler was also honored with an honorable mention listing. Last year the Chargers had just one listing on the 1st Team. Kingery and Younker are repeat listings, but moved up this year from the 2nd to the 1st Team.
