In an effort to help those organizations applying for grants, Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation is sponsoring a free event later this month.

The non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Jefferson is teaming up with Greene County Extension to offer a Grant Writing 101 Workshop on Thursday, November 29th. It will be at the Greene County Community Center from 5:30 to 8:30pm. Extension Director Lori Mannel says Extension Community Development Specialist Jane Nolan Goeken will lead the class and participants will receive hands-on training, among other things.

“(You will learn) How to write successful grants, and just some basic tips that you may not be able to read out of a textbook or out of an (mobile) app. It’s going to be for grants that may be for non-profits, maybe it’s a grant for local governments or schools.”

A meal is also included and there’s no fee to participate. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by November 26th. Call the Extension office at 386-2138 or stop by their location at 104 West Washington Street in Jefferson to sign up.
