perry library

Starting this week and running through December, the Perry Public Library is once again offering story times with something special mixed in.

Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says the story times for the next two months will also include some cooking lessons for the kids. Participants will receive a free apron when they sign up, and Kestel promises that each of the recipes is easy for them to follow. “We do really simple snacks and cooking things, because we don’t really have a stove at the library, so we kind of work around (that). But the kids get to measure and stir, and they get to eat what they make and it’s just a fun time!”

There is no cost to attend, though registration is required prior to each program so Kestel can make sure she has enough materials for everyone. The story times for kids 18-months-old through 3-years-old will be on Tuesdays, starting at 10:15 a.m. The 4 and 5-year-olds’ story times will be Wednesdays, also at 10:15 a.m. Finally, the “Wee Wonders,” which are birth through 18 months, will meet on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., though Kestel says the youngest kids won’t participate in the cooking.
