Michael Mackensie Taylor

A Panora man has been sentenced to several years in prison and must register as a sex offender for life after being convicted on several charges Monday.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Michael Mackensie Taylor has been convicted of the amended charges of third degree kidnapping, a Class C felony; willful injury resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony; and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse causing bodily injury, a Class D felony. Taylor must serve no more than 10 years for the Class C felony, and no more than five years for each of the Class D felonies at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Oakdale. He has been credited for all time served in the Guthrie County Jail for these offenses.

Taylor must pay full restitution, a $100 sex abuse surcharge, and will attend a hearing on pecuniary damages by telephone on December 10th. He must also provide a DNA sample, abide by a no contact order issued by the victim, and pay a room and board fee of $50 per day as well as any medical aid costs to the sheriff’s office. The prison sentences are to be served consecutively. All other charges were dismissed.

The conviction stems from a March 3rd incident in which Taylor choked a woman until she passed out, and then forced her into a timber area where he assaulted her. Upon release from prison Taylor must register as a sex offender and remain on the registry for life.
