The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday in regular session.

The meeting began with a monthly update from Conservation Director Joe Hanner. He mentioned the Conservation Board is in talks of doing electrical infrastructure upgrades at Nations Bridge Park over the next few years. Next, Transfer Station and Public Health Director Jotham Arber discussed the County creating a line item this year for a demanufacturing fund of $7,000 for the transfer station to comply with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources regulations. Arber suggested the County sets up a fund for this amount in their next budget cycle. He also discussed updates to the county’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policy. The Supervisors then approved a payroll change notice for a six month probationary period for Wayne Tallman, Jr., and approved the final plan for the Monteith Road overlay project for next year.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright and Michael S. Lewis of Shive Hattery Architecture & Engineering then gave a presentation on a needs assessment for the county jail. Four options were given to the Board to consider, and the Board directed Lewis to look into the cost of a fifth option that doesn’t include adding a new structure and renovates the current basement facility.

Finally, the Board tabled action on applications for family farm tax credits and approved the principal and interest payment on the general obligation bond for wind farm tax increment financing. They also approved the canvass of last week’s general elections, which showed no significant changes from the unofficial results.
