New head girls’ basketball coach Tyler Westhoff and his Greene County Rams held Media Day Tuesday at the Middle School gym. The coach is in his second year as a teacher in the Greene County school district and he coached seventh grade boys’ basketball a year ago. This is his first season coaching girls’ basketball. Jeff Lamoureux returns as the assistant coach.

Three letter winners return off the 5-16 squad of a season ago, and all are junior guards. Bailey Cunningham averaged 4.8 points a game as a sophomore, with Izzy Bravard at 4.4 points, and Kassie Lamoureux at 2.8 ppg.

The head coach talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about what he’d like to see from his players this season. “We’re going to build our team starting with defense. We have a lot of quick girls this year, along with some girls with size. I want us to make our name playing defense and being scrappy. On the offensive side, I want to be able to push the pace and run the fastbreak. With so many girls being quick, I feel that’s a strong advantage in our favor.”

The Rams host the Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) girls and boys on Nov. 17 in two Hall of Pride Scrimmages. The Regular season begins on Nov. 26 in Jefferson when the Ogden girls and boys visit the middle school gym.
