Perry’s newest destination for those with a sweet tooth enjoyed a great deal of business while the weather was good, though now that it’s getting colder it will be closing up shop for the season.

The Frio ice cream shop will be open one last day today, from 12-9 p.m., and will then close until warmer weather returns. To help give the shop a proper send off into the winter months, the owners are offering $1 scoops of ice cream all day today. General Manager Aaron Lenz said he originally hoped to keep Frio open all year, but would assess the business as days got colder and make a decision. Seeing low customer numbers throughout the last couple weeks, he made the decision to close up for the time being.

No concrete date has yet been announced for when Frio will return, but Lenz promises to keep people informed via their Facebook page. He’s thankful for everyone who helped make the ice cream parlor a success since it opened in August.
