logo-Iowa-DNRThe Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating an incident in Greene County.

According to court documents, the DNR issued a citation to Kirk Hammer for unlawful possession of a whitetail deer. The incident occurred on November 3rd around 6pm. With fines, surcharges and court costs, the citation was $195. Hammer is also required to appear for a court hearing this Wednesday at 9:30am. The DNR is continuing their ongoing investigation.

Hammer is a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s office. Sheriff Jack Williams released a statement to Raccoon Valley Radio last week saying in part: “allegations have been made at Deputy Hammer. I am conducting an internal investigation in cooperation with the DNR as this time.”

Raccoon Valley Radio has reached out to the DNR for a statement, but phone calls have not been returned. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
